Julia Ives does her carving in Embudo, New Mexico.  The figure on the left is approximately 7 feet tall. That figure and the one on the right are carved from High Altitude Pine.  Figures 2, 3, & 4 are between 2 and 3ft tall and are carved from Red Cedar.  She used Danish Oil, Trewax, Solar-Lux Wood Stains and a wood burner to finish the figures.  Julia used red oil paint to finish the vase atop figure 1.

Andrew is a 36 yr. old novice carver from Australia.  He carved this piece from Australian Redwood using a chain saw for the beginning and finishing with hand tools.  His carvings are quite large and feature dolphins and other sea life.  Enjoy..

Richard Mazza of Puyallup, WA is sharing another flute with everyone.  It is carved of old growth Alaska White Cedar, the buffalo is bleached curly maple, the horns are of taga nut, the beads are made of Ahoa from Hawaii.  The flute is a double (drone) in the key of "a".  The buffalo of  white curly maple represents one of the 9 remaining white buffalo in existence.

Mr. Barr is an experienced carver who made these Santas for a show in Branson, MO.  He lives in Branson and Savannah.  These are 4' to 5' tall, carved from Catalpa Wood, stained and then painted with acrylics or with wood dyes.  They are all hand carved.

The upper flute is carved from Empress of China Wood, woodburning is of Monument Valley, AZ. rattle is of the Hopi Tribe and baskets are of the "Tohono O'odham Nation" & Hopi Nations; it is tuned to F# Major.  The lower flute is carved from old growth Alaskan White Cedar, tuned to the key of F#.  Richard sent these for our enjoyment from Puyallup, WA.

Harking back to his own truck driving in the 50's, Dick carved this mining scene.  It is carved in Red Oak and framed with Black Walnut & Basswood.  Finished in two colors of walnut with a satin poly finish. The piece measures 19" x 19" It is sent from Hibbing, MN
